Francis, Hight Win the Weekend
PEAK Dirt driver Steve Francis picked up the win in the NDRL PENNational 50 at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Thursday night.
It was Francis’s first win at Pittsburgh since 1996 and his first start at the track since 2007.
Previous 3-time zMax Dragway champion, PEAK NHRA Funny Car driver Robert Hight took home another Wally at the 5th annual Four-Wide NHRA Nationals. He defeated John Force, Alexis Dejoria and Tim Wilkerson. This is Hight's second win in the tough four-wide format and his fourth overall win in North Carolina. Hight is currently the points leader and has two wins this season.
In NASCAR news, the Bojangles Southern 500 took place at Darlington Raceway Sunday afternoon. The track, nicknamed Too Tough to Tame, proved just that for Team PEAK.
Clint Bowyer started 16th and ran as high as 7th. Bowyer fell to 12th in the final green-white-checkered finish. Brian Vickers started 14th, led for 30 laps, but unfortunately a cut tire in pit lane forced a commitment cone violation, dropping him down a lap. Vickers and Patrick finished 26th and 22nd respectively.
