APRIL IS NATIONAL CAR CARE MONTH

April is National Car Care Month. That means it’s that time of the year to focus on taking better care of your second largest investment. Do right by your ride, and your wallet, and they’ll do the same for you. Here’s just a couple of minor, inexpensive fixes that can ensure your car sticks around for many years to come.

Such as:

• Air Pressure - Checking your tires’ air pressure doesn’t just save your tires and extend their lives. It also saves gas and as we all know, fuel ain’t getting any cheaper. Properly inflated tires will extend your fuel mileage and, therefore, extend your budget.

Fluids - Obviously you want to keep your car ready to roll – give it a fresh oil change when necessary to extend the life of your engine. There are other liquids that keep you and your vehicle safe. Like brake fluid. And power-steering fluid. And windshield-washer fluid. You don’t want to spend an hour behind someone on a wet, dirty road with mud flying onto your windshield with no way to clean it. And that brings us to…

Windshield Wipers - So many people ignore their windshield wipers until it’s too late. Having your windshield wiper fluid refilled and good to go doesn’t help a bit unless you have wipers that can do the job. Driving with one hand while using the other to wipe your window with a dirty rag just won’t cut it.

• Emergency Kit - Finally, if worst comes to worst and you find yourself stranded, you can rest a little easier knowing you have a jump starter in the trunk and a mobile power source with you to make sure your cell phone and other electronics stay charged to call for help. You can’t spend that big return check if you’re on the side of the road.

That should about do it. A little preventative medicine now will keep your car happy and keep you from having to spend mucho dinero. While you’re at it, you might wanna wash your car, too. When you look good, you feel good. If you’ve got any other car care tips, leave them in the comments below.
