PEAK Stock Car Dream Hopefuls: A Diverse Group

Round 2 is underway for this year’s PEAK Stock Car Dream Challenge. This year, the field has been narrowed down to 18 final contestants. Here, in random order, are the first six. Let’s get to know them…

Annabeth Barnes
Age: 19
Hometown: Hiddenite, NC

Nineteen years old with fourteen years of racing experience? Simple math tells you Annabeth Barnes started her motorsports career early and she’s made the most of it. She cut her teeth at the legendary Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, earning her first-ever victory there. Her goal? Just to become the first woman to win the Daytona 500.

Cody Erickson
Age: 25
Hometown: Ulen, MN

When thinking of hotbeds of racing, Minnesota doesn’t usually register. Cody Erickson will tell you differently. This 25-year-old dirt modified driver has more than 20 feature wins under his belt in a region full of veteran dirt racers. The Ulen, Minn., native is also a double threat as he builds his own race chassis.

Dan Ebert
Age: 26
Hometown: Lake Shore, MN

Dan Ebert has already tasted success in motorsports, just not on four wheels. Or any wheels, for that matter. The Midwesterner earned the bronze in Winter X-Games Snocross action after getting his start in BMX and motocross. The dirt modified driver is a second-generation racer who grew up watching his father work with some of the biggest names in motorsports, including the late Dick Trickle.

Eric Winslow
Age: 25
Hometown: Danville, VA

Literally born into the sport, Eric Winslow’s grandfather was racing trucks at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway before NASCAR was involved. Hanging out with legends like Jack Ingram and Tommy Houston gave Winslow the spark to become a racing great himself. Getting his start in karting, he now races Late Models and finished in the NASCAR Late Model Series Top 300 national points standings in 2012 despite a very tight budget.

Tyler Hudson
Age: 29
Hometown: Brandon, MS

Tyler Hudson has faced down some incredible battles before he ever got on a racetrack. A two-time survivor of leukemia, the Mississippi native dreamed of being a racer and it was that passion that helped him not only beat cancer, but be crowned the 2013 PEAK iRacing World Championship. With additional experience in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Hudson plans to race for a championship on dirt in 2014.

Will Wolf
Age: 20
Hometown: Lenexa, KS

A third-generation racer in the Sports Car Club of America, Will Wolf has racked up more than 200 victories after getting behind the wheel of his first go kart at the incredible age of only three years old. Outside the track, Wolf’s a college sophomore in Kansas, working to earn a degree in sports management.

Stay tuned to hear about the other remaining finalists. In the meantime, you can follow their journey on PEAK’s social properties – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - and ultimately watch how it all plays out during the finale August 2nd on Velocity.
